What To Expect
Meybod, located 55 kilometers north of Yazd, is a several thousand-year-old city, which is home to historical sites. Namely, Shah Abbasi caravanserai is a Safavid caravanserai registered as a national heritage site. This 17th century structure, with a square plan, encompasses 100 rooms surrounding the central courtyard. The eastern hall is dedicated to the Zilu museum and workshop featuring very old Zilues dating back to 600 years ago. Zilu is a handwoven floor, representing the simple life style of the rural people and the nomadic life. These delicate works are environment friendly and healthy coverings as they do not harm the respiratory system of the weavers and consumers. They are woven by cotton yarn and are rich in patterns and colors.
